Humans have created art and music for a long time.
The oldest flute found is 35.000 years old.
The first game known dates back to the birth of mankind.
Maybe this is what made us human. What made us civilized. Maybe this is why our spieces survived and the neanderthals didn’t.
Art, music and games. In ancient times, games were played by the gods. Sometimes with people as pieces. Their destiny decided by the outcome of the game.
In a novel by herman hesse some sort of super priests play the glass bead game. The components of the game are science, art and philosophy. All interconnected.
Like in these stories of the games of the gods can strategic thinking be applied to science, politics or life in general?
And how about art and music?
Pople are not gods but today a new spieces is being born. A human 2.0. Digitally enhanced with access ot an abundance of information. All connected to each other. Xoiiox is a game for humans 2.0.
Like in chess the pieces have different values. Like in the glass bead game, playing games and creating art are two sides of the same thing.
Most computer games today and most digital music tools have a low learning curve.
Xoiiox is not easy but niether is chess. Or learning how to play the violin.
This is a game for humans 2.0 that can handle a lot of information. A lot of simultanious inputs.
Are you human enough to play xoiiox?
It’s a board game played by two modern humans in real life, in real time. It can not be played online. It can not be saved. It can not be shared on social media. It takes time to learn. Even longer to master.
Are you human enough to play Xoiiox?
THE SQUARE PIECE HAS A VALUE OF 1 PT. IT MOVES 3 STEPS AND THEN STOPS.
THE UP-DOWN PIECE HAS A VALUE OF 2 PTS. IT MOVES ALONG A LINE AND BOUNCES BETWEEN THE LONG WALLS.
THE SIDEWAYS PIECE HAS A VALUE OF 3 PTS. IT MOVES ALONG A LINE AND BOUNCES BETWEEN THE SHORT WALLS.
THE DIAGONAL PIECE (THE XOIIOX) HAS A VALUE OF 4 PTS. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME IS TO TAKE THE OPPONENT’S DIAGONAL PIECE. IT MOVES DIAGONALLY AND BOUNCES IN 45° BETWEEN ALL THE WALLS. IF A DIAGONAL PIECE PASS OVER A SQUARE PIECE, IT BECOMES VULNERABLE AND DECREASE TO A VALUE FROM 4 TO 1 PT DURING THE NEXT PLAYER’S TURN.
TO ACTIVATE A PIECE, CLICK ON IT IN THE NEST, CLICK ON THE POSITION ON THE FIELD WHERE YOU WANT TO BEGIN. ALL PIECES ON THE FIELD FREEZE. CLICK ON THE PIECE AGAIN AND THE SWIPE IN THE DIRECTION YOU WANT IT TO MOVE. IF A PIECE WITH A HIGHER VALUE MEET A PIECE WITH A LOWER VALUE, THE HIGHER PIECE TAKES THE LOWER. IF TWO PIECES OF THE SAME VALUE MEET, THEY BOUNCE OFF IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME IS TO TAKE THE DIAGONAL PIECE (THE XOIIOX). THE ONLY WAY TO DO THIS IS IF TWO OR MORE PIECES WITH A HIGHER TOTAL VALUE THAN 4 PTS MEET THE DIAGONAL. FOR EXAMPLE IF A SIDEWAYS PIECE (3 PTS) AND A UP-DOWN PIAECE (2 PTS) HIT THE OPPONENT’S DIAGONAL PIECE (4 PTS), THEY WIN. THE DIAGONAL PIECE CAN NOT BE TAKEN AND THE GAME CAN NOT BE WON UNTIL ALL PIECES HAVE LEFT THE NEST. YOU CAN NOT PLACE A PIECE CLOSER THAT ONE STEP FROM THE OPPONENT’S PIECES.
THE X-FUNCTIONS CAN BE PLAYED BEFORE A MOVE UNTIL THEY ARE EXPENDED.THE PAUSE FUNCTION MAKES ALL PIECES FREEZE BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR PIECE. THIS GIVES YOU MORE TIME TO PLAN YOUR MOVE.
THE REVERSE FUNCTION MAKES
THE DOUBLE SPEED FUNCTION MAKES YOUR PIECES MOVE WITH DOUBLE SPEED. USE THIS TO CHANGE THE LAYOUT OF THE PIECES OR TO QUICKLY AVOID AN ATTACK.
THE HALF SPEED FUNCTION MAKES THE OPONENT’S PIECES MOVE WITH HALF SPEED. THIS CAN BE USED TO PLAN OR AVOID AN ATTACK.
EACH X-FUNCTION CAN BE USED 4 TIMES DURING THE GAME. THE NUMBER OF X-FUNCTIONS LEFT TO BE USED IS INDICATED IN THE COUNTER TO THE LEFT.
EACH HORIZONTAL LINE REPRESENT A TONE IN THE XOIIOX SCALE. EACH PIECE HAS IT’S OWN SOUND CHARACTERISTICS. RED TEAM HAS A COLLECTIVE CHARACTERISTICS AND THE BLUE TEAM ANOTHER ONE. THE CHORDS IN THE BACKGROUND TELLS WHO IS PLAYING. HITS AND BOUNCES ALSO HAVE THEIR OWN MUSICAL SOUNDS. WHEN THINKING TIME IS RUNNING OUT A PLOINKY SOUND IS HEARD 5 SECONDS BEFORE TIME IS OUT.
